The rest test
For two weeks I've coughed, sniffed, blown my nose, and wiggled my jaw to unblock my ears.
I've rested.
Stayed inside. Slept on the couch. Read books. Watched Netflix.

Done things differently.
Said ‘No’ to requests. Asked for help. Canceled plans. Pushed back appointments.
Surrendered.
And let go of the old belief that I should be able to push through, get over any discomfort, pop a few pills and keep going.
It gave me wonderful learnings. Beautiful realisations. Space to notice the synchronicities.
But, to be honest, after a week, I was ready to get back to my normal life.
A week felt like plenty.
Enough, surely.
Well, apparently not.
It seems I need to rest…some more!
So I'm still laying low. Doing things gently. Choosing what feels cosy, comfortable and supportive.
This rest test has highlighted my desire to live a full, pleasure-filled life would be enhanced with a beautiful, intentional rest, reflection and reboot space carved out of my week.
Just like Mother Nature always includes downtime, I need to as well.
Time alone to absorb, process and appreciate all the irresistible opportunities. intriguing activities and inspiring people in my life.
Could you benefit from gifting yourself a few hours every week to focus on yourself?
If so, create some ‘white space’ in your calendar. Time that is free from pre-determined activities. Time that is available for you to do what YOU want in the moment.
The only requirement is that it expands your heart and FILLS your soul.
For me, the lesson from this test is to create a Sacred Sunday window in my week…
Amen.
