Making space

When you declutter quote.png

When I was little, I used to think my toys had feelings.

If I didn’t squeeze them all onto my bed, one would feel left out.

They were my friends and I’d do anything for them.

When Hoperty, the sheepskin rabbit, couldn’t see through all the fur covering her eyes. I gave her a trim.

Sorted. She never had that problem again!

Pooh Bear, my favourite and first birthday present, came everywhere with me. To the snow (see pic), and even swimming at the beach.

Sadly, Pooh Bear wasn't a good swimmer.

She sank. Soaked up so much salt water she had a sleepover drying off in the bathtub.

Just like Andy, the boy in the The Toy Story films, I eventually grew up and realised that my toy friends weren’t human.

But that didn’t stop them having a special place in my heart.

Stuffed in their plush fur and bright colours were treasured memories of the time they came into my family, the location of our first meeting, and the person who thought I'd be the perfect parent.

They were special. They consoled me, got me through sad and lonely times. and they loved me unconditionally.

Pooh and Hoperty are still in my life. I gave them to my children, and they love them too.

But many of the toys that got to share my bed, are no longer with me. Over the years their numbers have dwindled.

I've done the Kon Mari thing, thanked many and said goodbye.

Others have been repurposed and are now littered around our garden.

Buddy, our dog, has immense pleasure playing with them. Thankfully he hasn't dismembered them!

The sentimental stuff is the hardest to part with.

But as you probably experienced during one of the Covid homebound periods, clearing out neglected or less used spaces is easier. And feels unbelievable.

Yes, it always takes waaaay longer than you think it will.

And it’s crazy messy before it’s sorted. But it’s worth it.

You find things you've lost, locate things much quicker, and remove clutter.

It creates clarity in your space. Helps you to experience something different, reveal a new pathway, and give you unexpected bonuses.

It feels P.H.E.N.O.M.E.N.A.L.

So, where could you do a little declutter or clear out?

What room might be calling out for a physical or energetic freshen up?

If your kitchen is one, join me for a cool opportunity to get some expert help in this space.

Steph Schall, a gorgeous, generous friend, plant-based cook and super talented recipe developer, is hosting a free Meal Prep Month this July, and it includes pantry set up, kitchen prep and downloadable resources.

It starts Monday 28th June. More details are below and on her website

It's your chance to get organised, and create openings to do the most important stuff under Steph's expert guidance.

Then you just need to watch the extra time, energy and goodness flow in.
