The start.
Do you remember your first day of school?
Geez, it was a HUGE moment.
For me, it was first time my sun-kissed, salt crusted body had been draped in a formal uniform with my name sewn all over it (even on the toes of my socks!).
The first time I was out of my thongs and buckled up in rigid, polished leather shoes (or, as Glennon Doyle calls them, foot coffins!).
It marked the end of the summer holidays, the realisation that the familiar kinder friendships and care were not continuing, and the transition to life as a BIG school girl.
It was a massive leap to a new environment, daily routine, teacher and classmates. There was no choice but to be open and ready to adapt to what came my way…
This week, my first day memories popped up as Mila had her first day at a new high school (no more Primary school at our place!) and Luca returned to school, one arm in a sling, for the first time after major shoulder surgery.
These firsts, on top of a weekend workshop birthing my first shamanic drum, and plans to run a 28-day Fab Feb challenge for the first time, had me reflect on the significance of the first time we do something.
The fact that in order to start something and do it for the first time, we need to let something go. Accept that an aspect must end.
There's the potential to gain so much, but, at the same time, there's the familiar and certain at stake.
When we do something first, we're at the precipice of the known with the unknown.
It's lonely.
There's expectation, apprehension, anticipation and nervous excitement. The accompanying kaleidoscope of emotions, thoughts and sensations swirling within you.
The fluttery tummy, the surge of energy, and clammy flesh to remind you that this is new territory.
There's risk AND reward at the same time.
The potential for embarrassment and humiliation combined with the limitless opportunity for growth, expansion and satisfaction.
It can feel paralysingly scary, thrillingly exhilarating and anything in between.
It can stop you from doing what feels right and taking action, or encourage you to be courageous and open yourself up to infinite possibilities.
You get to choose.
With so many opportunities to do something for the first time, how do you approach one?
If you're sitting in a place where you're feeling a little uninspired, or ready to shake things up a bit, why not join me for my new, simple, no-frills, 28-day Fab Feb challenge.
It started a few days ago but you can easily catch up or pick up from now.
It's a chance to do things for the first time. Small things you can easily do in no more than 5-10 minutes to feel fab, have fun and freshen things up.
It's a super opportunity to take inspired action, get tips and resources, be introduced to some talented and amazing women sharing their talents, and come away feeling energised, empowered and fabulous.
All you need to do is visit the public Discover Your Wild facebook page daily where I'll be posting a challenge with an accompanying video by 9am each day. I'll pin the latest video to the top to make it easier to find!
I originally had plans to do this on email, with a private Facebook group, and I just couldn’t pull it together with all that I had going on. So this is the wild & simple version.
There's no specific order to the daily challenges so you can do what you want, when you want. It doesn’t have to be daily, you just do what speaks to you, and see what happens!
Just remember, as with all things, the more you put in, the more you’ll get out.
If you join me, I've love to hear from you. Please do share how you're progressing by commenting, messaging me via facebookk or email penny@discoveryourwild.com.au
This is a great way to connect, stretch yourself, have some fun and see what unfolds!
It's sure to be wild.
