Get Real
"Unreal banana peel".
Classic Aussie rhyme.
A silly phrase to emphasise THE best part of the moment by referring to a discarded fruit skin destined for the compost!
Yet there's some truth in it.
We desire for things to be UN-real.
Our systems, culture, and society condition us to aspire to be younger, thinner, fitter, healthier, happier, wealthier, smarter, better, whiter…
We are trained to celebrate and seek out the fake things. To look good at any cost. To numb our feelings. To avoid mistakes and embarrassment.
We pretend to be okay with how it is while it saps our energy and vitality.
When we do step outside of the box, peel back the layers, and get real, we can feel alive, energised and aligned.
Your insides match your outsides, and the peel is removed. The weight of carrying around the UN-real disappears.
I've found shining love and light on the stuff that's taboo, hidden and unspoken really helps.
It's why Jennifer Annette (co-founder of The Alive Woman with me) and I have created a new 'Get Real' Conversation series.
We're keen to bring together amazing women ready to talk to ALL the uncomfortable, the unreasonable, and shamed stuff.
In our first series, we’re digging into the depths of our relationship with time, booze and menopause.
We'd love you to bring your voice and wisdom to these conversations too!
Whether you're cruising through one or more of these, you're yet to navigate them, or you feel a mixture of curiosity or nonchalance, we’d be delighted for you to join us a for an exploration of:
How the F*ck do we…
Transform Time (June)
Find Bliss Without Booze (July)
Make Meaning of Menopause (August)
They're juicy topics that we'll explore in one get together a month.
You get to choose a Wednesday lunch (only 3 seats remaining) or Saturday arvo in Kew, or a Thursday evening on zoom.
This is a cosy and intimate conversation circle - space is limited.
We’d love you to bring your beautiful energy and share in our collective growth.
As with all that we create, the food, the setting and the company will be sumptuous, welcoming and real.
You can find out more, and reserve your seat, on our website. Hit reply or email me if you have any questions.
Where could you ‘get real’? How could you be curious and peel back a layer that's keeping you from the truth? What could you talk about or share with someone today?
It all helps you to feel Alright Vegemite!
Bye Bye Butterfly xx
